Cold, Rain & A Puppy

It seems we haven't caught a break in TX. It has either been raining or too cold to go for a bike ride the past few months. And on the few days that the weather is warm and dry, I am either working or trying to catch up with some household chore or errands where a bike wouldn't be practical at all.

I do like playing Wii Fit, but decided that I needed to spend a little more time outside, even if it was only for 10 or 15 minutes per day. So I got a puppy last week.

Well, rewind - that isn't WHY I got a puppy, just one of the many benefits of a puppy! We found a German Shepard/Sharpei mix at the SPCA, only 3 months old. We have named her Trillian, and she is a riot, and a little firecracker! Since she is "my puppy", I take responsibility for most of the work: walking, feeding, cleaning up after her, etc. Shocking, I know, right?

We have gone on several walks, the longest one about 2 to 2.5 miles roundtrip. She does NOT like the cold at all, and unless we are going to the park, wants to stay close to the house. However, she does enjoy walking to 7-Eleven since that means the possibility of a hot dog for a treat.

So, bike riding put on hold again. BUT when she gets bigger, I can ride with her running along side. She will want to do more than just the little walks we take, and I won't be able to handle running with her any time soon.
